Tup Tup Tup, Willa Bergera
Project Type
Installation
Date
June 2022
Location
Willa Bergera, Sopot, PL
Original premiere of the large-format installation displayed on the windows of the three-walled orangery in Willa Bergera.
Tup Tup Tup is an onomatopoeic audio-visual journey that spreads throughout the room with the use of three projectors and four speakers.
Visualizations were created analogously, using the technique of stop-motion animation. Spills of paint, brush strokes, and drawings were photographed on the backlit glass. Visualizations coincide with the sound of synthesizers, processed field recordings, and foley. The project was created out of the need to reflect on the presence of painting today, it is an attempt to transfer painting values to a computerized reality.
The installation is also inspired by being on the road, discovering the world, a synesthetic wandering over abstract stains spilled over the space and the sounds that propagate within it.
The wandering theme also manifests itself in the open form of installation - it can be viewed and heard from within the space, as well as outside (through the images passing through glass and the sounds resonating the glass walls). It encourages the spectator to move, change their perspective and discover the space and its surroundings. It is a dialogue with the existing present, a form of reviving a half-abandoned space through image, sound and presence.
